Pharmacy technicians work in hospital or community pharmacies, but they deal far more than just with pharmaceuticals. Because they interact daily with pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, patients and physicians their top priority iscustomer service. Then pharmaceutical skills such as receiving and completing prescription requests before counting, measuring medications is a close second. Some clerical skills are helpful since maintaining records and dealing with insurance companies are part of the daily job routine.

While some pharmacies accept applicants with no formal training, most employers are favoring those who have a specific education and have certain certifications.
